Youtube Drops IE6
Its been like this for a while now, but YouTube-The video sharing site, has officially dropped support for Internet Explorer 6, leaving people who use the outdated browser with a message stating that they should upgrade to a newer browser to continue using the site.
It was a really suprising move from youTube, and it looks like there are otheres following suit. This is really great news for web design in general. 60% of developers time is spent trying to get a site working in the hated browser.
Its an important step forward, but we should keep the momentum going.. IE6 is mainly used in the corporate world, (which doesn’t use YouTube a lot) so it would be great to see more corporate sites dropping support and making the web a easier place to develop.
