Social Networking Sites Leave Children Vulnerable

Social networking sites such as MySpace and Facebook are leaving children vulnerable to abuse from paedophiles by refusing to embed a free online safety button on their sites. This leaves the their sites allowing users to report abuse. Jim Gamble who is the head of the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre (CEOP) which devised the report button has launched a attack on the sites saying that it is time for them to stop hiding behind excuses and sign up to its free abuse button. CEOP has spent years trying to get the sites to sign up which links children and teenagers to advice sites for bullying or abuse as well as directing tem to counsellors.
