Online energy savings!
Nearly 14million householders are being hit by a penalty of £200 for not paying their energy bills online. Individuals who pay their bills using the standard method of cash or cheque once a quarter seemed to be paying approximately £200 more then there neighbour who pays over the internet. The research was conducted by uSwitch for the Daily Telegraph and claims that traditional customers were being penalised. Suppliers have in the last few months cut their online bills but not there standard bills. Ofgem who regulates the industry calculates that about 1.3million householders have signed up to online deals and this involves customers setting up their direct debit over the internet.
